About Ambolt

The thing
work gets
shaped against.

Ambolt is a design house for companies whose product has outgrown how it looks. We do the strategy, the identity, and every asset that comes after it, in house and by hand.

Most rebrands
die after the logo

Not because the logo was wrong. Because nobody thought about the two hundred files that come next: the twenty-one ad sizes, the sales one-pagers, the trade show wall, the monthly email nobody has time to design. A studio hands over a beautiful set of guidelines, disappears, and eighteen months later the company looks like it did before, plus one nicer mark.

We build the part that survives. The system, the components, the documentation, and the training that makes a marketing team able to use any of it. Then we stay long enough to watch it hold.

An ambolt is an anvil. It is not the tool that does the shaping. It is the thing you shape work against.

That is the whole posture. We are not precious about our own signature, we are relentless about yours. The range across this site is deliberate: a survey platform, a fintech risk company, a university merchandise line, and a music project should not look like siblings, and a studio with one house style would have made every one of them worse.

How we
work

Strategy firstBuilt to hand overNo AI

Four principles that decide what we take on and how we run it. They are not aspirational. Every one of them costs us something, which is how you know they are real.

Positioning before pixelsWe will not start drawing until we can say, in one sentence, what argument the work has to win. A brand that looks expensive and says nothing is a more expensive version of the problem you already had.
Built to be handed overEvery system ships documented, with the components, the type scale, the interaction states, and the training to use them. The measure of the work is whether your team can extend it after we leave, not whether it photographs well on our site.
No AI touches the designNot the marks, not the layouts, not the photography, not the copy. Every piece on this site was made by people. In a market filling up with generated work, that is a checkable difference and it is the reason the output holds up under legal review and does not quietly resemble three competitors.
One point of view, all the way downStrategy, identity, web, campaign, photography, and video run through the same hands. Nothing gets subcontracted and marked up, which means fewer handoffs, no drift between the logo and the ad, and a faster line from decision to file.

What we
make

Six disciplinesIn house

The full stack, under one roof, which is unusual at this size. Most studios our scale subcontract half of it. We do not, which is why an engagement can start at a positioning question and end with a photographed trade show booth without a single handoff.

Brand and identityNaming, positioning, wordmarks, sub-brand architecture, illustration systems, style guides, and the marketing playbook that tells people what to make with them.
Web designHomepages, pricing, landing pages, and the component library underneath them. Documented to the type step and the interaction state so the next page does not need a designer.
Marketing designDisplay and social campaigns at real scale, sales enablement, white papers, event collateral, and email programs built as kits rather than one-offs.
PhotographyPortraits, product, event, and place. Shot and finished to match what a brand needs rather than to a house look. Retouching offered on its own.
VideoShort-form paid social cut for square, vertical, and 16:9 from one edit, in the same typographic system as everything else that moves past a scroll.
Consulting and fractionalBrand audits, scoped advisory, and fractional creative direction for companies that need senior creative leadership without a full-time hire.

How an
engagement runs

Four stagesFour to six weeks

Same shape whether it is a sprint or a retainer. The stages are named so you always know where the work is and what you are approving next.

Groundwork

Everything before the first mark. Stakeholder interviews, category audit, competitive positioning, and a written argument for what the brand has to say. You approve the argument, not a mood board.

Direction

Two or three complete directions, each carried far enough to be judged honestly. Not three logos on a white page. A direction means the mark, the type, the color, and at least one real application, so you are choosing between futures rather than between drawings.

Build

The chosen direction taken through the full system. Sub-brands, illustration, web components, campaign templates, collateral. Everything specified as it is made, so documentation is a by-product rather than a phase nobody budgets for.

Handover

Files, guidelines, playbook, and the sessions that teach your team to use them. Then we stay available for the first stretch of rollout, because the month after launch is when systems actually break.

Who is
behind it

Founded 2026Cleveland, Georgia

Small on purpose, with senior people on the work rather than on the pitch.

Founder and
creative director

Zach Dreybus founded Ambolt after thirteen years of doing this work inside companies rather than for them. Most recently Creative Director and Head of Brand at Sogolytics, where he led the marketing department through the rebrand documented on this site, and where the repositioning is tied to a tenfold change in revenue.

Before that, Director of Brand, Events and Creative at Summit 7, running multi-brand governance in B2B defense-tech and a conference program that returned 63X and influenced more than thirty million in pipeline. Before that, Senior Art Director at Mailchimp, leading a nine-person international creative studio and the user education work behind a 98% self-serve rate.

That is the reason the handover matters here more than it does elsewhere. Taking a rebrand through an actual organization, past executives and a sales team and a product roadmap and everyone's opinions, is the part that kills most of them. We have done it from the inside, which is a different education than delivering files and leaving.

Work is delivered by a small senior team assembled around what a project needs, drawn from people we have directed before and would work with again.

We would rather be right than fast.

But we are usually both, because a system beats a series of decisions and we have made most of these decisions before.

If your product is more sophisticated than your brand, that is the problem we are built for. Tell us what is not landing and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people to fix it.
